An Alabama woman who was arrested for the death of her husband in 2019 also stabbed herself in the vagina to make it look like she killed him in “self-defense.”

Prosecutors revealed that 66-year-old Linda Doyle stabbed herself in the abdomen and vagina in a set-up to make it seem like she fatally shot her husband, James,71, in self-defense. Assistant District Attorney Patrick Doggett said in a statement that further evidence proved that Doyle inflicted the wounds on herself.
“Based on the evidence that has been recovered at this time, we don’t believe that Mr. Doyle inflicted those.”
Last year, Doyle called 911 and told the operator that she was in a violent altercation with her husband. Prior to the fatal shooting, Foley police reported that Doyle would contact them about other alleged incidents of domestic violence. Emergency responders said they found the couple laying on the ground covered in blood and James was pronounced dead at the scene. Doyle was airlifted to University Hospital for treatment.

However, Doyle’s attorney, John Furman, says his client acted in self-defense and said there have been several incidents involving her husband.
“Linda Doyle went to bed that night and Furman says that’s when it happened. “She was attacked, stabbed multiple times in the vagina with a butcher knife, managed to get out of bed, retrieve a pistol that was in the home for self-defense, and then managed to shoot and kill her assailant, which was her husband.”
She is currently being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond in jail and the conditions of her bail state she must remain in the state of Alabama and wear a GPS monitor ankle bracelet if she makes bail.
