Young An,42, was reported missing on Oct.16 after she was reportedly kidnapped by her estranged husband, Chae An, 52. Authorities responded to a 911 call about a woman who was heard screaming and sounded “gagged,” as reported by TOO FAB. When officers entered the home in Lacey, Young’s home showed a sign of disturbance, and the couple’s children explained to police that their parents were dealing with a divorce. They also said they saw their father’s van in the driveway and said he would usually stop by to do laundry.

Hours later, Young was found hiding behind a shed on a home’s property on Oct. 17 around 1 am. Investigators said she was covered in dirt and had duct tape around her neck, face, and ankles, in addition to multiple bruises to her legs, arms, and head.

“When Young realized the deputy was law enforcement, she sprinted at them, screaming and crying for help. She grabbed onto the deputy and frantically said, ‘My husband is going to kill me.”

Chae allegedly threw his estranged wife into a 19-inch deep hole after he stabbed her breasts. He used a fallen tree and covered Young with dirt. The report also said she was buried several miles from her home and was left to die for hours. Chae was arrested six hours after Young was found, and he has a firearms review hearing scheduled for Thursday. According to Fox News, he is being held without bail on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree domestic violence kidnapping, and first degree-domestic assault.

A friend of Young said the couple has had a history of domestic violence and recalled Chae telling his estranged wife that he “would rather kill her than give her his retirement money.” She also had a restraining order against him, but it was rescinded after the kidnapping. He also told her he would “kill her” whenever he was angry.

Before she was found, Young said she noticed her husband’s van was still nearby and made a run for safety. Once, she spotted a home nearby, knocked on the door, and asked the residents to contact the police. Authorities said they discovered a hole that Young described and found duct tape.
