Woman Intentionally Coughs On $35K Of Food, Grocery Store Tosses It All
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, an unnamed woman is possibly facing criminal charges after she intentionally coughed on approximately $35,000 worth of food at a grocery store.
The incident occurred at a Gerrity’s Supermarket in Hanover Township, PA. Chain co-Owner Joe Fasula took to Facebook to report that the she began coughing on produce, bakery items, meat and other products, before being removed from the store.

Hours after her removal, Police Chief Albert Walker says officers took her into custody for “intentionally contaminating” the food, and now plan to file criminal charges upon conclusion of her mental health treatment.
While they do not believe she is carrying the virus, officials plan to administer a test on her to be certain.

Additionally, Fasula shares in his post, “I am absolutely sick to my stomach about the loss of food. While it is always a shame when food is wasted, in these times when so many people are worried about the security of our food supply, it is even more disturbing.”
He adds, “The only silver lining to this travesty is that it gave us the unfortunate opportunity to test our protocols and demonstrate how seriously we take your safety. At one point, we had over 15 employees involved in the disposal and clean up.”
