A Connecticut woman discovered her husband’s last words while searching through his phone after he died from the coronavirus.

BuzzFeed News reports Katie Coelho’s husband Jon spent a month at a hospital in Danbury receiving treatment for the coronavirus. He died of cardiac arrest due to complications from the virus on Wednesday. While collecting Jon’s belongings, Katie opened his phone to save photos of him and their children. As she continued to search through his phone, Katie discovered a note containing Jon’s last words:

“I love you guys with all my heart and you’ve given me the best life I could have ever asked for, I am so lucky it makes me so proud to be your husband and the father to Braedyn and Penny. Katie, you are the most beautiful caring nurturing person I’ve ever met,” the note continued. “You are truly one of a kind…make sure you live life with happiness and that same passion that made me fall in love with you. Seeing you be the best mom to the kids is the greatest thing I’ve ever experienced.”

Katie told Buzzfeed that she believed Jon wrote the note weeks before his first intubation:

“Even though he was fighting for his life for the past month, I know up until the last second he wanted to make sure the kids and I were okay. He knew he had to say something to me because I haven’t been able to speak to him in so long.”

The couple met at Western Connecticut State University and were married in 2013. Katie went through IVF to have their children Braedyn,2, and Penelope, 10 months. Braeden was born with neurological issues and is being cared for full time.

Jon was an essential worker and was super cautious about catching the virus due to Braeden having pre-existing health conditions.

“He was so super vigilant because he was so afraid of what would happen to our son if he caught it.”

A GoFundMe has been set up for Katie and her children.
