The New York Post reports 27-year-old Samantha Shader of Catskills threw the makeshift explosive through the back window of a police van while the officers were inside. Investigators state the event took place at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Washington Avenue around 10:40 p.m. but the explosive did not ignite shortly after Shader threw it.  During the arrest, officers say Shader allegedly bit one of them in the leg. Shader was charged with four counts of attempted murder, attempted arson, assault on a cop, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

Her sister, Darian, was also arrested after she attempted to interfere with her sister’s arrest. She was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction of governmental administration.

There were several other incidents involving NYPD officers and protestors where they have been hit with water bottles, bricks, brass knuckles and other objects as reported by the head of Detective Endowment Association Paul DiGiacomo:

“In other incidents, cops were hit with bricks, brass knuckles, and bottles,” he said, promising that “in addition to ensuring the strongest possible criminal charges are filed against these vicious criminals, we will be bringing civil actions against any person who harms a Detective.”

Over 200 protestors were arrested last night and there were reports of several injured.
