Shannon Stevens was staying at a cabin with her brother and his girlfriend near Chilkat Lake where she became the target of a black bear’s attack. Stevens said they were roasting sausages by a campfire and she decided to use the cabin toilet for relief. As she sat down on the seat, Stevens felt a sharp pinch on her buttcheek and saw the bear through the toilet hole after she jumped up.
‘I got out there and sat down on the toilet and immediately something bit my butt right as I sat down, I jumped up and I screamed when it happened. I opened the toilet seat and there’s just a bear face just right there at the level of the toilet seat, just looking right back up through the hole, right at me,’

As reported by the Daily Mail, her brother Erik heard Stephens screaming and said he investigated the situation and found the bear still sitting under the toilet seat.
‘I opened the toilet seat and there’s just a bear face just right there at the level of the toilet seat, just looking right back up through the hole, right at me. I just shut the lid as fast as I could. I said: “There’s a bear down there, we got to get out of here now”. And we ran back to the yurt as fast as we could.’
Stevens said the bear has fled the property since then and the bite looks fine after receiving at-home first aid treatment.
