Will This Convince You To Take It? President Biden To Get COVID-19 Booster On Camera
President Biden is planning to take a COVID-19 booster vaccine shot once it’s fully approved for Americans over the age of 65, and he’s willing to do it on camera.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said, “He will do so, and he will do so on camera. I don’t have a date for you exactly. It’s important to note, just to take a slight step back, that there are still a couple of additional steps in the process.”
As it was previously reported, a federal advisory panel unanimously voted last week to recommend that the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) authorize the third dose of Pfizer’s vaccine for people over the age of 65 and those at higher risk of infection. Now, if the booster gets cleared by FDA, from there, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel will meet to determine who should qualify and when the third dose will be offered, The Hill notes.
On Monday, Pfizer also announced that its COVID-19 vaccine works for children ages 5 to 11 and that it will seek U.S. authorization for this age group soon.
“Over the past nine months, hundreds of millions of people ages 12 and older from around the world have received our COVID-19 vaccine. We are eager to extend the protection afforded by the vaccine to this younger population, subject to regulatory authorization, especially as we track the spread of the Delta variant and the substantial threat it poses to children,” said Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.
