D.L. Hughley is the latest star to weigh in on the viral video of King Harris having an intense argument with his parents, T.I. and Tiny Harris.
While speaking with TMZ, the OG entertainer shares how disappointing it was to watch King’s meltdown at the Atlanta Falcons game play out online. The comedian ultimately feels like King is “embarrassing” to his parents.
“The thing about it is, I’ve known T.I. And Tiny for a long time and I watched how hard they work and I watched how hard they value their family,” Hughley began. “To have someone that you worked so hard and sacrificed for — to shit all over your memory and accomplishment for clicks is insulting.” Hughley went on to say,
“When we grew up, we actually grew up in the circumstance they romanticize about. It was the inspiration for T.I. getting out of there and Tiny getting out of there… yes it inspired them artistically but you don’t want your children to grow up in the same circumstances. No parent would want their children to have it as hard as they did.”
He added, “We grew up poor but the one thing you couldn’t do is tell Black women her kids were dirty or they weren’t taken care of and that’s exactly what he’s doing now. He’s insulting the effort they put into raising him… just for clicks, for what?”
More On What Happened:
While attending the Atlanta Falcons NFL game on Sunday, lT.I., his wife Tiny, and their son King Harris got into a verbal argument, which seemingly led to a physical scuffle between the father and son.
As T.I. and Tiny tried to explain to King that he couldn’t understand what it was like to grow up poor, he was mocked for having a “silver spoon. However, King hit by letting them know that he was raised by his grandmother. Following an intense back and forth, King let his parents know that they were “capping” about his upbringing… which led to TI and King getting into each other’s personal space.
“You are embarrassing yourself and the family, nigga.” The Atlanta rapper continues to yell, “Boy, you can’t do nothing with me! Ain’t shit you can do with me!”
Following the incident, King took to Instagram where he wrote, “I Stand on. BUSINESS DON’T GIVE A FUCK WHO U ARE … IDGAF WHO U ARE MF CANT PLAY WIT ME N MY FACE NOT GOIN FOR DA IM A GROWN ASS MAN NOW.” He added, “If ima mistake say dat stop making da world think u fw me when u DONT. Nigga be faking a image for da internet &. It AINT Me,” he continued.
It’s unclear if T.I., Tiny, and King have resolved their family situation but we’re hoping they will soon.
