You know it’s getting bad when TJ MAXX is closing the doors on you!
According to CNN, the retail store has also decided to pull the plug on trying to purchase products from Kanye’s Yeezy brand. This comes after a bunch of other companies decided drop him or terminate their deals with him over his anti-semitic remarks.
The decision was announced this Wednesday by TJX Companies — operators of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods. In a statement to CNNBusiness, the company said: “At TJX we do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or hate of any kind. We have instructed our buying teams not to purchase this merchandise for sale in any of our stores globally.”
With more retail chains announcing that they will no longer sell Yeezy-branded products, the only place that it can possibly live on is his own website.
What Did Kanye West Say?
It also started during his Yeezy Paris Fashion Week show on Oct. 3 after he wore a shirt emblazoned with the phrase “White Lives Matter” on its back. The phrase is one that was adopted by neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups in response to the Black Lives Matter movement. The rapper also had controversial commentator Candace Owens wearing the shirt.
Aside from that, his Drink Champs interview is what really got him in trouble. While claiming that George Floyd died from fentanyl instead of being killed by a Minneapolis police officer who kneeled on his next for 9 minutes, Kanye also made anti-semtics remarks.
Ye said he would go “death con 3” on “JEWISH PEOPLE,” an apparent reference to Defcon, the U.S. military defense readiness system.
His ex-wife Kim Kardashian who he shares four kids with made a statment denouncing hate speech. She said,
“Hate speech is never OK or excusable,” Kardashian tweeted Monday. “I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.”
Has Kanye West Apologized?
“I will say I’m sorry for the people that I hurt with the ‘Death Con’ — the confusion that I caused,” he said on Sunday (Oct. 8). “I feel like I caused hurt and confusion. And I’m sorry for the families of the people that had nothing to do with the trauma that I have been through and that I used my platform, where you say hurt people hurt people, and I was hurt.”He continued in the interview, saying, “I gotta let go of that and free myself of the trauma and say, ‘look, I’m just gonna give it all up to God right now,’” he continued, “and say to those families that I hurt, I really wanna give you guys a big hug and I’m sorry for hurting you with my comments.”
