Warner Bros. Drops Johnny Depp After He Loses Wife-Beating Case

Warner Bros. has kicked Johnny Depp to the curb after he lost his wife-beating case. The actor has been forced to step down from his recurring role as Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts.

Depp revealed the news on Instagram after he lost his libel case against the Sun newspaper, who claimed he beat his ex, Amber Heard.

“The surreal judgment of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal,” he wrote. “My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”

The sequel is currently being pushed back to 2022 and Johnny Depp’s character will have to be we cast.

“Johnny Depp will depart the Fantastic Beastsfranchise,” the studio said in a statement. “We thank Johnny for his work on the films to date. Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production, and the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. The film will debut in theaters worldwide in the summer of 2022″.
