As we previously shared, on September 10, the world witnessed the tragic assassination of the 31-year-old controversial Conservative commentator. The right-wing activist was fatally shot in the neck as he addressed an audience on the campus of Utah Valley University.
Kirk, also known as “The Trump Whisperer,” was kicking off his company Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour.” Just 20 minutes into his speech, a bullet struck the left side of his neck as he answered a question about Black crime, gun violence, and more. He leaves behind a wife, Erika Kirk, and two children, ages 1 and 3.
Jimmy Kimmel Cracks Jokes About Donald Trump Mourning Fatal Shooting Of Charlie Kirk
On Monday evening (September 15), Kimmel shared a monologue referencing Kirk’s shooting. He also cracked jokes about how Trump was mourning his dear friend’s death. While speaking on Kirk and Trump, Kimmel said:
“We’ve hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it, but in between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.
On Friday, the White House flew the flags at half staff, which got some criticism. But, on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this. [cuts to video of Donald Trump telling reporters about construction on new White House ballroom after 150 years].
Yes, he’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. There’s demolition…construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of somebody they call a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish. Okay? And it didn’t just happen once.”
Wanda Sykes Slams Donald Trump After Jimmy Kimmel’s Show Is Suspended Indefinitely After Charlie Kirk Remarks
By Wednesday (September 17), the world learned that ABC suspended Kimmel’s show “indefinitely” following his remarks. Hours later, President Donald Trump applauded ABC for “canceling” Jimmy Kimmel’s show. Taking to his platform Truth Social, he spoke about Kimmel’s indefinite suspension and said:
“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.”
Moments later, Wanda Sykes took to her Instagram to slam Trump. She opened by noting that she was in a full face of makeup as she was scheduled to appear on Kimmel’s show tonight, but is no longer thanks to Trump. Sykes then asked for prayers and told Kimmel she loved him. She stated:
“Hey everybody. So, I’m in a full face of makeup because I was supposed to go over and have a chat with my friend Jimmy Kimmel on his show. But as you have heard by now, the Jimmy Kimmel show has been pulled indefinitely, abruptly, because of complaints from the Trump administration. So, let’s see, [Trump] didn’t end the Ukraine war or solve Gaza within his first week, but he did end freedom of speech within his first year. Hey, for those of you who pray, now’s the time to do it. Love you, Jimmy.”
