Virginia Tech Football Player Accused Of Beating Tinder Date To Death

A former Virginia Tech linebacker is being accused in the fatal beating of his Tinder date and now being charged with second-degree murder.

Isimemen Etute, 18 appeared in court and stated he had a Tinder match for a woman named “Angie” and went to the apartment back in April and his Tinder date performed a sexual act on Etute. A detective testified that Etute went back to the home the next month and Etute groped his Tinder date and turned on his flashlight to get a better look inside the dark room and found out his Tinder date was a man then repeatedly punching the victim.

Isimemen Etute is now being accused in the death of 40-year-old Jerry Smith and was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday. His hearing is set to be scheduled for Nov. 18

Medical Examinations revealed that Smith died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Etute was released from jail in June on a $75,000 bond and has been placed on house arrest. The judge ordered him to stay with his family in Virginia Beach. Etute has been suspended from the football team and school during the investigation.
