Newly leaked bodycam footage making the rounds online captures the moment trans UCF student Jarrett Vick was pepper sprayed, tased, and cuffed by campus police following an explosive exchange over pronouns. It all went down when officers responded to calls about a verbal argument on campus grounds. According to police reports, when officers arrived to investigate and de-escalate, the interaction immediately took a turn.
Vick became visibly upset during the questioning, repeatedly shouting female pronouns at the responding officers and screaming, “STOP MISGENDERING ME!” as the energy quickly escalated past the point of no return…
What could have been a moment for clear communication rapidly devolved into chaos. Law enforcement claims Vick refused to follow basic commands and tried to evade arrest as officers moved in. When verbal warnings failed to cool things down, campus police pulled out the hot sauce, deploying pepper spray in an attempt to gain control.Â
Now, when that didn’t stop the scuffle, officers fired a Taser, dropping Vick to the pavement before slapping on the cuffs.
