Video From LAPD Shows Burlington Store Shooting That Left A 14-Year-Old Dead

The Los Angeles Police Department released shocking video footage of the chaos that went down inside of the Burlington coat factory. Surveillance camera footage and police body camera videos show the incident that led to the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl by an officer shooting at a suspect last week.

Surveillance video shows the 24-year-old suspect, Daniel Elena-Lopez, arriving at Burlington Coat Factory store in North Hollywood and going up the escalator with his bike. Moments after he can be seen swinging his bike lock at customers. He is seen attacking numerous female customers.

“This chaotic incident resulting in the death of an innocent child is tragic and devastating for everyone involved,” Police Chief Michel Moore said in a statement late Thursday night. “I am profoundly sorry for the loss of this young girl’s life and I know there are no words that can relieve the unimaginable pain for the family.”

“I have a hostile customer in my store attacking,” said one caller, who can be heard yelling, “Evacuate the building!”

The bodycam footage shows the moments when the police are yelling at the suspect and opening fire. According to reports, a 14-year-old girl was in the dressing room during the time of the shooting and she was actually shot and killed.

Authorities have stated that they are going to complete a thorough investigation into the shooting.
