US Leads The World In Confirmed COVID-19 Cases With Nearly 84K

The US is now the global epicenter of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as it surpassed China and Italy with the most confirmed cases.

Per Johns Hopkins University, the United States has at least 83, 507 confirmed cases, with at least 1,201 deaths, 259 as of today (Mar 26). Recoveries clock in around 1,864.

Currently, China’s confirmed cases nears 82,000 as Italy reaches for 81,000. The update in the US follows news we reported earlier of US unemployment claims soaring to nearly 3.3 million in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic.

The unprecedented number of claims is nearly a fivefold increase over the previous weekly record set during the recession in 1982.

To help the nation’s residents breathe a bit, the Senate has passed a $2 trillion coronavirus bill on Wednesday (Mar 25).

The economic relief bill is considered the largest in US history, with 883 pages detailing the costs to help Americans.

It details that many Americans will recieve direct checks, expanding unemployment benefits and a $367 billion program for small businesses to help pay their workers who are currently at home.
