UPDATE: Will Smith Also Denies Giving August Alsina His “Blessing” To Have A Relationship With Jada Pinkett Smith
What love triangle? Will Smith is also now shutting down claims that he gave August Alsina his “blessing” to have a relationship with his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith!
As we previously reported, the singer recently sat down with radio host Angela Yee and spoke about many things including his relationship with the 48-year-old actress. During their conversation, Alsina claimed that he had received Will Smith’s “blessing” to engage in a relationship with Mrs. Smith. He explained to Yee, “I actually sat down with Will [Smith] and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership … he gave me his blessing.”
While fans took it as confirmation that the two did have a relationship, following months of speculation, Jada’s rep quickly shut those claims down in a brief statement to Page Six, saying it was “absolutely not true.” According to The Daily Mail citing The Sun, a rep for Will Smith is also denying Alsina’s claims, branding the reports as just “wrong.”
Alsina said that Jada’s son, Jaden Smith, introduced them back in 2015. In 2016, he joined the Smith family on vacation in Hawaii. Alsina and Pinkett Smith also attended the 2017 BET Awards together. While speaking with Yee, Alsina explained,
“I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really deeply love and have a ton of love for her,” he told Yee, 44, in Tuesday’s interview. “I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it — so much so to the point that I can die right now and be OK with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”
During the interview, Alsina noted that he has nothing but love for the Smith family, and although his comments caused a lot of controversy, we’re sure he’ll speak out soon to clarify his comments out of respect for the long-time couple.
