An NYC man has been arrested for fatally shooting his pregnant ex-girlfriend after she returned from her baby shower in Harlem.

Police arrested Justin Soriano,40, at a home in the Bronx early Thursday morning in connection to the murder of Shanice Young,31. She was killed while attempting to break up a fight between Soriano and her boyfriend when Soriano fired a bullet into her head. Investigators reported Young was eight months pregnant at the time of her death and her unborn child did not survive.
Young’s father explained in a previous report that his daughter was in fear of her life after ending her relationship with Soriano and filed a restraining order. “She put him out because he was cheating on her. Then [he] does this because she had another boyfriend. Shanice was scared to death of him,” he said.

According to the New York Post, Soriano has nine prior arrests and his most recent arrest was in 2016 for criminal possession of a controlled substance.
A friend of Young said she was unloading gifts from the baby shower before the shooting and went back outside to remove more from the car.
“They were unloading the stuff from the baby shower. The gifts were lined up in the hallway, and she was going back outside when she got shot. I’m shaken up by it. Who the f–k shoots a pregnant woman? You’ve got to be out of your mind.”
