A New York woman was fatally shot after she was returning home from her baby shower and tried to break up a fight early Sunday morning.

Shanice Young,31, was expecting to give birth to her third child in several days but her life was tragically cut short after she was shot in the head in front of her building on West 128th Street and Frederick Douglas Blvd in Harlem. According to The New York Daily News, Young was returning to the building with her daughters and the father of her unborn child around 1 a.m. when her ex-boyfriend entered the building to confront the couple.
Police said her ex fired the bullet into Young’s head as she tried to break up the fight and fled from the scene. Her sister hinted that Young’s unborn child also passed away in the aftermath of the shooting. “Shanice was a victim, She didn’t have four children – she had two, and the third one died with her,” she said. The family also told local media that Young was taking care of her younger siblings along with raising her two children after her mother died from ovarian cancer a year prior.

Young’s father said she broke up with her ex because he cheated on her and placed an order of protection against him because she was afraid of him.
“She put him out because he was cheating on her. Then [he] does this because she had another boyfriend. Shanice was scared to death of him,”
