ABC News 7 reported that the boys are apart of a gang, however, detectives asked the public to help identify the teens responsible for the attack. According to the latest report by the New York Post, some of the boys have turned themselves in at the 77th Precinct in Crown Heights.

The news site notes that the five teens — ranging in age from 14 to 17 years old — were charged with robbery and gang assault, cops said. Their names were not immediately released. They did share that they believe the assault may have been retaliation for a fight earlier in the day where the victim allegedly beat up another girl at school, law enforcement sources told The Post.

The young girl was taken to an area hospital with head trauma and later released, authorities said. As of right now, cops have not released the name or further details on the victim. However, investigators say they are still searching for additional suspects.
