UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson In Intensive Care As Coronavirus Conditions Worsen
On March 27, we reported that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for coronavirus. As of Monday (Apr 6), he’s now in intensive care as his conditions have worsened.
On Sunday night, Johnson, 55, was first admitted into the hospital for routine testing. A Downing Street spokesperson says, “Since Sunday evening, the prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.”

They add, “Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital. [Johnson is] receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.”
During Johnson’s hospitalization, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will temporarily take over duties. They explain, “The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputize for him where necessary. The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.”

The news of Johnson’s move to the ICU, arrives after his tweet early Monday morning, which addressed his reason for going to the hospital on Sunday.
