An Atlanta woman’s dreams of getting a college degree came true after one of her Uber passengers paid off her debt.

Latonya Young, 43, is a single mother who works as a stylist and part time Uber driver.

One day, while she was driving a passenger from the Mercedes Benz stadium, she began to talk to him and shared a few of the obstacles she faced.
Since she was 16, she was forced to drop out of high school to raise her first child. She then had to drop out of college because of a $700 “unpaid balance”‘ at Georgia State University.

Just days after her ride, she got a call from the school and was notified that someone paid off her debt. That someone turned out to be her passenger, Kevin Esch.

“I was literally blown away. A stranger has never done that — or done anything like that — for me,” she told WSB-TV.

She was finally able to finish college and Esch even came to her graduation ceremony! She earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice and will return to her studies later this month to earn her bachelor’s.

Esch spoke to WSBTV and said that he thinks Young is an inspiration to him.
