Tyrese is breaking his silence after being accused of lying about being racially profiled at Home Depot during last year.
As we previously reported, the incident went down on February 11th when Tyrese went to a Home Depot location where he was worried that his amount of fame would be a distraction so she chose to go to the car while his construction workers pay for the items. But unfortunately Tyrese had to go back into the store after the cashier refused to complete his construction workers transaction and didn’t give them a reason. The cashier “gave no reasonable explanation other than repeating store policy and demanded to see a form of identification,” according to the suit.
Since the incident Tyrese filed his lawsuit and was seeking $1 million dollars. Things about the incident have been quiet for a while, but the actor took the time today and reposted an article that claimed Home Depot had surveillance footage to prove he lied about the incident. “What camera footage are you talking about? I’m a lot of things but I’m not a liar… I don’t lie.. I don’t play games.… For those of you who asked me why did I film the WHOLE THING??? This is exactly why…. Where is the LIE?..????,” Tyrese questioned.
“They sent me the footage of the cameras inside the store then asked my lawyer to promise I wouldn’t post it… They are all OVERHEAD shots with no audio… How convenient… Lawsuit filed… Then all of a sudden they are doing campaigns with Shaq?…. “
“Nobody is buying it…. “Karen” disrespected the black man.. So let’s hire the black man to show they got love the black and brown man…. Shaq call me.. I wanna be done with this… I have no idea how I missed this…
You guys are really keeping me in the loop… They really called me a lie.. That shit is wild to me… My lawyer hit me and told me to chill out and not post about it anymore.. Haven’t they already done enough damage to myself, Eric and Manuel? Now I’m a liar . That’s coo… My last post…. For now..”
Tyrese, “one of the most recognizable Black actors and musicians in the United States, and his associates … experienced outrageous discriminatory mistreatment and consumer racial profiling first-hand inside the Home Depot retail store in West Hills,” the suit states. “The company needs to understand that there are consequences for discriminatory mistreatment and consumer racial profiling.”
Gibson and the other plaintiffs are “committed to doing their part to advance civil rights and put an end to the despicable practice of discriminatory mistreatment and consumer racial profiling at the Home Depot, and, by extension, all retail stores,” the suit states.
