Tyra Banks reportedly feels somewhat remorseful about her past behavior amid ongoing claims that she is “difficult to work with” and most likely won’t return as the host of Dancing With The Stars later this year. The 48-year-old has not been able to catch a break since early 2020, when a handful of former contestants on her show, America’s Next Top Model, came forward and accused Tyra of encouraging a toxic work environment and belittling the contenders.
Keenyah Hill famously said that the mother-of-one had told her to use “feminine wiles” if she wanted to fend off an aggressive male model, while Dani Evans, who won the sixth season of the now-defunct franchise, was advised to fix her dental gap before Tyra said she would fail in the fashion industry without undergoing the necessary cosmetic work on her teeth.
With regards to the continuous heavy criticism for how she is said to have treated the aspiring models on her show, a source told OK! Magazine. “Tyra wishes she’d done things differently. But she doesn’t think it’s fair that she be held solely accountable.” The Inglewood native has since deactivated her Twitter account following new claims from sources at DWTS, asserting that working with Tyra has been a complete nightmare. Even TV personality Brooke Burke, who hosted the ballroom show from 2010 to 2013, said that Tyra was known for being a “diva,” who has made the series all about her and completely stripped the attention away from the celebrity contestants.

Brooke continued to add that Tyra was “not the star of the show” and should stick to her hosting duties instead of making DWTS all about her. While talking to David Yontef on the Behind the Velvet Rope podcast, she shared, “There’s nothing wrong with that, and I’m not saying anything bad about her — be a diva!”
“It’s [just] not the place to be a diva,” the brunette continued. “Change is hard for everyone. They’ve gone through a lot on that show, that’s for sure. You are just not the star. Like, it is just not about you as the host, right? So, yeah, I think Tyra is great in a shining role. I will just say that.”

Last month, it was revealed that ABC had decided to take DWTS off the network and instead air it on Disney+ when it returns for another series in the fall. The move was allegedly made as the show has taken a drastic plunge in ratings in the past two years, with many fans having turned away from watching when Tyra replaced Ton Bergeron and Erin Andrews as the host in 2020.
Tyra has yet to confirm or deny whether she’ll be back for another run, but the Coyote Ugly star isn’t expected to return from what’s been gathered.
