Users expressed their sadness on Twitter after the company announced its new ‘Stories’ feature for the near future.
The announcement was made earlier today when the company stated it will be testing a new feature called “Fleets.” The feature will allow users to create tweets that cannot recieve likes, retweets, or replies and will disappear within 24 hours. Brazil will be the first country to try out this feature in a test run to see if users will feel more comfortable posting online.

However, Twitter users created the hashtag #RIPTwitter after the announcement and noted the social media site was unique due to lacking a Stories feature in comparison to Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, and other social media sites. Tech Crunch said in a report that Spotify will also test a ‘Stories’ feature.

Here are some of the reactions to Twitter’s latest announcement:
Who asked for stories? Nah I wanna speak to management because this is not right. What set twitter different from the other social media apps is the fact that it’s storyless. All we’ve ever asked for is an edit button. Don’t ruin this app #RIPTwitter pic.twitter.com/be9x66FEyb

To everyone raging against the announcement of “stories” coming to twitter, instead of the much requested edit button.

So #RIPTwitter is trending because people are fed up with their constant new additions like stories apparently, and NOT an Edit Button
I’m sick of every single site having an edit button but this one too tbh. There is no reason they shouldn’t have one at this point, it’s 2020. pic.twitter.com/swBJmTTaK1
