Trump Orders National Guard And Federal Agents To End Rioting In Kenosha, Wisconsin

Following three nights of clashes between police and demonstrators protesting the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he plans to send federal law enforcement officials and the National Guard to the city.

Trump said that Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers agreed to accept federal assistance, one day after 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse gunman killed two people and injured a third during protests late Tuesday. Trump also said in a tweet:

“We will NOT stand for looting, arson, violence, and lawlessness on American streets. My team just got off the phone with Governor Evers who agreed to accept federal assistance (Portland should do the same!)… TODAY, I will be sending federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosha, WI to restore LAW and ORDER!” the president wrote in a social media post.”

The “vigilante” shooter in Kenosha who allegedly shot protesters was captured in Antioch, Illinois. Court records indicate he was booked for first-degree homicide in relation to the Kenosha shooting. We will continue to keep you updated when more details have been shared.
