According to TMZ, Andrea died suddenly after suffering from a heart attack at her home in Toronto, Canada, on Thursday. Sources tell the publication that while she was rushed to the hospital to be resuscitated, doctors’ attempts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead shortly after.
The 31-year-old basketball star is said to have flown straight from Los Angeles to Toronto upon hearing the news, though it’s unclear at what point he was informed about his mother’s health condition. Andrea was very close to her son and played an active role as a grandmother to his children, including those he shares with Khloe Kardashian.

Her death will undoubtedly come as a shock to Tristan and his brothers, Daniel, Deshawn and Amari. In an Instagram post dedicated to his mom on Mother’s Day 2019, the NBA star captioned his post, writing, “I’m so blessed to have a mother that loves me the way you do and willing to sacrifice everything for her kids.”
Following one of his splits with Khloe Kardashian that same year, it was claimed that Andrea was detrimental in being her son’s support system when the two had called it quits. “Tristan Thompson’s mom Andrea has been very influential when it comes to True being in Tristan’s life,” an insider told Hollywood Life. “The two had a real heart-to-heart about his involvement in his daughter’s life and he really did listen.”
