According to Rolling Stone, Tory Lanez hasn’t been able to reach a plea deal in his felony assault case even despite “meaningful discussions” with prosecutors. However, the rapper’s defense lawyer Shawn Holley confirmed the talks then but said her client’s plea of not guilty “stands.” Holley appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom Wednesday and agreed to return with her client on Dec. 14 for his preliminary hearing.

Rolling Stone reports that Deputy District Attorney Kath Ta told the court she expects to put on about 90 minutes of testimony as it is necessary to send the matter to trial.

He’s facing up to 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted as charged for felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He’s also facing the added allegation he “personally inflicted great bodily injury.”
