For those who didn’t catch it, the TV personality uploaded a picture to her Instagram Story showing what she and her 8-year-old daughter have been up to while under self-quarantine on account of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Spelling posted a snap of her daughter playing dress up and explained in her caption that, “Days kept inside we have to get creative… Hattie has become McQuisha in her cheeto extension nails,” she wrote.

Almost immediately Spelling caught backlash for her post with some people labeling her a “bad parent” while telling her she was “dead wrong.” The 46-year-old is now speaking out to apologize to those she offended by her poor move. In a new Instagram Story, Spelling said,

“I posted a story the other day that upset many of you. I’m truly sorry. That was NOT the intention at ALL. Hattie is 8. We watch and adore reruns of “Martin”. She loves the character Shanaynay. She made up that name with “Mc” because her last name is McDermott.” Spelling said.

She went on to explain that her innocent daughter was only re-enacting the “amazing character from Martin” and she was “truly sorry” for posting the picture.
