A Florida mother was fatally shot in front of her coworkers during a Zoom meeting after her son found his father’s gun.

During the meeting, 21-year-old Shamaya Lynn’s coworkers heard a loud bang and contacted 911 after witnessing the young woman falling backward from the screen. Moments after the call, officers and EMS arrived at the scene but reported the mother of two was found with a gunshot wound to the head. According to News 6, Lynn’s two children were not hurt during the shooting.
Investigators said in a statement that the gun belonged to the boy’s father and the state attorney’s office is currently deciding whether charge him with failing to lock away the weapon safely. “If you own a firearm, please keep it locked and secured. Incidents like this could be avoided,” said Altamonte Springs PD Master Patrol Officer Roberto Ruiz Jr
