TikTok Rolls Out Parental Controls For Its Teenage Users

TikTok is proving to be the most popular app amongst all teenagers right now, and subsequently, they’re giving parents some measure of control to leave them at ease.

The is implementing new safety features, allowing parents to link their child’s account and enable them to access and control the content they see.

Cormac Keenan, Head of Trust and Safety in Europe, released a statement: “When people use TikTok, we know they expect an experience that is fun, authentic, and safe. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing users with features and resources to have the best experience on [the app], we are announcing Family Safety Mode, a new feature to help parents and guardians keep their teens safe on TikTok.”

Kennan adds, “We will keep introducing ways to keep our community safe so they can stay focused on what matters to them—creating, sharing and enjoying the creativity of TikTok’s community.”

Additionally, Family Safety Mode includes: screen time management (which the app rolled out in April 2019 and have since updated); access to direct messages; and restricted mode.
