According to El Dia, 19-year-old Yacaira Amarante Rodriguez became seriously injured with first-degree burns after two men threw Plomerito or “devil’s acid” on her face and body on September 25. The National Police arrested Rodriguez’s ex-husband Willy Antonio Javier Montero, Pedro Alexander Sosa, and Joan Jose Felix earlier this week after investigators alleged that Montero hired the two other men to harm Rodriguez. He paid Sosa and Felix $3,500 Dominican pesos to carry out the crime and the pair followed her as she entered a public transportation bus.
Felix is also the father of Rodriguez’s two-year-old daughter and he told police he carried out the heinous crime after accusing the young woman of infidelity. Rodriguez’s mother told the publication that her daughter and Felix were living together since she was 14 and was fearful of her life due to his jealousy issues. Rodriguez is currently receiving treatment at the Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital in Santo Domingo and doctors reported she may become permanently blind along with sustaining several burns on her neck, shoulders, and legs.
“I think he had everything planned because the substance that was thrown at my daughter was prepared”
