The Weeknd Dropped His Own $7M Bag On Super Bowl Halftime Show
While his less than 20-minute performance received mixed reviews by over 100M viewers, one thing that’s for certain is that The Weeknd dropped a $7M bag of his own money on his Super Bowl LV Halftime Show routine!
The singer-songwriter’s manager Sal Slaiby confirms his “Can’t Feel My Face” client wanted to ensure the show was up to parr, so he took things into his own hands, pulled money from his own pockets and got the mission accomplished. Although the shows usually have a budget of roughy $10 million already vaulted by its organizers, Abel made sure the fans at home got to see a performance of a lifetime with his additional $7 million towards the total.

And, it looked like it was worth it! Between the brightly-lit hall of mirrors — which went viral and spawned numerous memes — the dozens of COVID-19-tested dancers on the Tampa Bay stadium field, pyrotechnics and more got everyone talking about The Weeknd’s medley performance, and caused his 2020 “Blinding Lights” track to keep its spot at No. 1 on iTunes’ Top 30! Meanwhile, he’s set to make back an average $1.3 million per show on his upcoming tour. #Socialites, was this is smart move?
