Socialites… get into this. A woman from Texas was rescued and taken to the hospital after her car was submerged in a lake for several hours — and miraculously, she survived. According to reports, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was informed by a fisherman at Lake o’ the Pines on Friday they had seen a Jeep inside the lake, with the top part of the vehicle noticeably visible from a distance. It was unclear at the time of the call how long the car had been in the lake, but deputies and paramedics rushed to the scene and arrived approximately 18 minutes later.

As seen in photos shared by the sheriff’s office on their Facebook page, authorities pulled up in a boat and were able to rescue the woman — whose identity remains unknown — from her car, with sources saying she’s believed to have spent several hours in the lake. It’s still unclear how she found herself in the water, to begin with, but she survived the ordeal and was said to have been recovering at a local hospital where she was taken shortly after. “It was discovered a person was still in the vehicle and moving,” the sheriff’s department said.

She was treated for hypothermia at the scene and expected to answer questions pertaining to the incident to officials. One of the investigators, Capt. Chuck Rogers, said in a recent interview with USA Today that they still weren’t sure how the car got into the lake, as police said they will not be giving a statement. What’s more, the woman in question had been reported as missing by the Longview Police Department shortly before she was found.

Per Insider, the fisherman’s boat was used to get closer to the Jeep before they affixed the vehicle with a hook and cable in order to pull it out of the lake. “It was at that time they saw the woman,” Rogers continued. “The fisherman and wrecker employee were able to help the woman from the jeep. They placed her into the boat and she was brought to shore.”

Temperatures on the day of the incident were said to have been colder than usual, so one can only imagine how cold the water must have been. When the woman was rescued, she was taken to another vehicle where she was able to warm up.

Given the circumstances of the situation, and that the woman was listed as a missing person, police stated a statement would not be issued to the public pertaining to what occurred on Friday, which is why further details about the near-fatal incident remain somewhat vague.
