Texas Teacher Resigns After Photo Surfaces Of Her Foot On Black Student’s Neck
After a photo surfaced showing her foot on a Black student’s neck, a Texas teacher has resigned from her duties at Greenville Independent School District’s Lamar Elementary. The photo shows 10-year-old Zaelyn Jackson on he floor “staging” the picture. Apparently, the boy’s mother says the family has known the unidentified teacher for several years and have a “joke relationship.”
The mother says the teacher told her son, “Make sure you bring this paper back or I’m going to get on to you, and your mama told me to get on to you if I need to … I’m going to put my foot on your neck.” The boy reportedly laughed and “bet” the teacher she wouldn’t do it, and with encouragement from other students, he got on the ground and allowed the teacher to place her foot on his neck, and take a photo to send to his mom. After, the mom shared the photo on social media and it immediately sparked outrage — with people recalling the police killing of George Floyd.

On Wednesday morning (Apr. 21), GISD sent an apology letter to parents after the controversial pic surface on social media. The district then placed the teacher on administrative leave as they investigated. While the boy’s mom believed the teacher is “a good person” and doesn’t deserve to lose her job, the instructor ended up resigning.
