Texas Man Shoved 78-Year-Old Father Off Cliff, ‘Laughed’ As He Fell
Austin, Texas Police say they arrested a man who shoved his 78-year-old father off of a 40-foot cliff, and laughed as he did it.
Authorities say the incident occurred on Sunday (Mar 8), when Gerald McCants, 49, excitedly persuaded his father to accompany him to a cliff in West Austin to see a rattlesnake he’d seen.

An affidavit of the father’s recollection states that upon arrival, McCants shoved him off the edge of the steep slope, and “laughed” as he fell roughly 40 feet down the bluff. While paramedics estimated the fall to be near 50 feet, they found McCants’ father with a deep cut to his forehead, and minor lacerations throughout his body.
The father was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries. Currently, the affidavit did not detail any motive behind the incident.
