A Texas man is facing criminal charges after police say he drove his vehicle through the front entrance of a Kroger supermarket because he needed to use the bathroom.
According to News 8, the Rosenberg Police Department said the incident happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sunday at a Kroger store in Rosenberg.
Investigators said the 60-year-old driver accelerated his Chevy Equinox through the pharmacy-side entrance, causing significant damage to the store.
In a Facebook post about the incident, police joked:
“I guess when you gotta go, you gotta go,” before adding, “but we strongly advise finding a store open for business … to do your business.”
Locked Doors Allegedly Prompted the Crash
Following their investigation, officers said the driver told them he urgently needed to use the restroom and became frustrated after discovering the store’s doors were locked.
Photos released by police show the SUV resting inside the grocery store near a Halloween display, while shattered glass and debris surrounded the damaged entrance.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Driver Charged With Criminal Mischief
Authorities arrested the driver at the scene. He has been charged with criminal mischief in connection with the incident.
Police have not released additional details about the case or estimated the total cost of the damage to the store.
