Business Insider reports the tequila, named “Tesla Tequila”, started out as a joke in 2018 after CEO and founder Elon Musk tweeted “Teslaquilla.” Two years later, the drink was released in a lightning bolt bottle at the retail price of $250. The company states the 40 percent alcohol product was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels and has various flavors such as fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper.

The drink is also produced by Nosotros Tequila and they charge $45 for a similar mix but the drink is only aged for four months. After the “Teslaquilla” was launched, it sold out within seven hours and is currently sold on eBay for double the price.

Fans of the brand won’t be able to receive the drink soon since it will be shipped out later on in the year and it was only available for customers in certain regions of the United States.
