Terry Crews took the time to speak on Terrence Howard and other actors such as Taraji P. Henson who have publicly spoken about unequal pay in Hollywood.
While appearing on Shannon Sharpe’s show, Club Shay Shay, the actor was asked if he ever took on a role and wasn’t paid the proper compensation that he deserved. “I understand what Terrence is saying but I have never looked at whatever money I got as a horror story. If I did it, I loved it but see this is the problem there’s a saying that I like to say..You can’t nod yes and mean no. If I nod yes, I looked at the terms if I said ok I can’t come back later say aww I only got $4,000 for that.”

During the conversation, Crews also revealed that he didn’t make any movie for his role in training day but it was all apart of his come up. “I didn’t get nothing for Training Day how about that. I didn’t get $0 but it changed my life forever. You wouldn’t know who I was if it wasn’t for a no paying job.” Terry Crews’ comments comes after Terrence Howard previously spoke to WREG News Channel 3 back in November and revealed how he made $12k for his role in the hit movie Hustle And Flow.
The ‘Empire’ actor explained how at the time he didn’t know much about the business when he was coming up. During the conversation the interviewer asked Howard if he knew that movie was going to be a hit. “No check this,” Howard responded. “I made $12,000 for doing Hustle & Flow and then on top of that what paramount did, instead of putting my name as Terrence Howard performing the songs they put performed by DJay.” Which was his characters role in the 2005 movie. “Guess what they owned DJay so the performance royalties went to paramount,” Howard explained.

Of course the interviewer was shocked once he heard that information and Terrence went on to say, “now I got to sue paramount and send them a letter. I got to send them a letter and say ‘hey you guys owe me about 20 years worth of residuals and performance royalties but I didn’t know. I was just trying to pay my rent then.” He also stated that he only made $6,000 for his role in the movie Crash. “The business don’t pay actors anything.”
