The rap news source reports that on Wednesday (April 26), they obtained court records claiming that the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is no longer looking to pursue charges against the man who brought a father and son into the gym as his guests ahead of the attack.

As we previously reported, on Tuesday (March 21) Tekashi 6ix9ine was brutally beatdown in an LA Fitness gym in Lake Worth, Florida. The beatdown, which was caught on camera and went viral, resulted in three men being arrested for the attack on March 30, and charged with assault and robbery in connection.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office previously identified them as: 43-year-old Rafael Medina Jr. and his 23-year-old son Octavious Medina; plus, 25-year-old Anthony Maldonado.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office also added that Maldonado was a member of the gym, and brought the Medinas in as his guests. The PBCSO also said that one of the men, later identified as Rafael Medina Jr, the eldest of the trio, is a high-ranking Latin Kings gang member.

While the motive behind the attack still remains unclear, it is now being reported that Maldonado has been cleared in the crime and had his charges dropped. Meanwhile, the charges against Octavious Medina and Rafael Medina Jr. still stand.

6ix9ine claimed that the altercation was “cowardly and opportunistic.” He added, “I’m not mad because I know that in the street, there’s no rules. You can’t blame them, they saw an opportunity and they took it.”

In the same interview with NBC Miami, 6ix9ine — who said he was in a hospital bed for four days and was still continuing to heal from his injuries — explained, “They arrived to the gym 10 minutes after I arrived. I’m in the sauna, and if you’re going to the locker room and changing, you can’t see who is in the sauna. So my immediate exit from the sauna, they knew I was there, it was calculated.”

When asked if he plans to sue the gym where he was attacked, he said, “Yeah, I mean, I’m thinking about it, yeah.” When asked on what grounds he plans to sue, 6ix9ine added, “The guys didn’t have memberships, so it’s pretty obvious.”
