A 15-year-old boy has graduated with honors from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Earlier this month, Jack Rico graduated with his bachelor’s degree in history with a 3.78-grade point average. On the school’s official Facebook page, Rico is one of the youngest students to graduate. According to the New York Post, Rico’s mother, Ru Andrade, said she homeschooled her son for four years and enrolled him at the Fullerton K-12 bridge program when he was 11. He passed the placement exam and took college-level classes, earning four associate degrees within two years.
“I know he gets a lot of attention for his brain, but he’s the sweetest kid — never been in trouble once. He has a sister who has autism who he is amazing with. Obviously, we are so proud of him because this is what he wanted,” she added. “But also proud of the human he is. That’s the coolest thing about him.”

Rico started attending classes at the university in 2020 and graduated on Dec. 14. He plans to pursue his master’s degree and will take a semester off to spend time with family. Additionally, he wants to pick a career that will earn enough money so he can take care of his sister for the rest of her life.
