The incident took place at the Pine Lakes Elementary School in Broward County around 10 a.m. when the student was sitting in the “Cool Down” room. Prior to the attack, police said the student and another four-year-old were throwing chairs and flipping things around during class. An officer who responded to the attack said he found the teacher sitting against the wall and told him that she was feeling weak and faint.

According to Local 10 News, Fire Rescuer personnel used a stretcher to remove the teacher and transported her to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Broward County Public School also addressed the incident in a recorded phone call by the principal to inform parents about a “staff member” who was transported to a local hospital due to an incident at the school.

“As always, the health, safety and well being of our students and staff continues to be my highest priority.”
