On Saturday (October 25), Birdman, Mannie Fresh, and other Cash Money artists hit the stage to go up against Master P and his No Limit artists in a VERZUZ battle. It all went down in Las Vegas during ComplexCon. Besides being entertained by the hit-after-hit action from both legendary Hip-Hop/Rap crews, Tamar Braxton also showed up and showed out.
Fans said Toni Braxton, Birdman’s wife, was noticeably missing from the stage. However, her sister Tamar was loud and proud in the middle of the stage with her brother-in-law. She was not only seen twerking and bopping her head to all the hits played from both sides, but she was also seen getting a little too cozy with her BIL — leaving her to face much criticism and address it all.

One social media tweeted out, “Now, why was you on stage with yo sister man? @TamarBraxtonHer.” Tamar replied, “Cause she couldn’t be here and she love her husband so ima hold it down for HER AND MY BROTHER!!!! TF!!??”
Other users recalled a recent episode of her family’s reality series, ‘Braxton Family Values.’ During the viral episode, Towanda Braxton accused Tamar of stealing Toni’s men in the past, even sleeping with them. Tamar adamantly denied the claim. But, the show’s network, weTV, beeped the name out, leaving viewers to speculate — especially as Tamar lost it, breaking and throwing things at the dinner table.
Following VERZUZ, video of Tamar and Birdman on FaceTime with Toni went viral. While it’s not immediately clear which spouse called who first, they were totally into each other and their conversation as an overjoyed Tamar spoke over them.

How Toni Braxton And Birdman Met And Got Engaged
Toni Braxton and Birdman, born Bryan Williams, first started dating in 2016. While battling Lupus, the R&B legend found a strong support system with the Cash Money head honcho. Two years into dating, Toni told PEOPLE that she never expected her friendship, with her “bestie for like 15 or 16 years,” to turn into something so strong. She added, “I never thought we would be dating or getting married.”
In February 2018, during a trailer for the new season of ‘Braxton Family Values,’ Toni confirmed that she and Birdman were engaged after two years of dating. She happily told her sisters, “I have an announcement to make — I’m engaged1” She showed off a massive $1 million canary yellow diamond engagement ring that Birdman designed. He reportedly gifted ehr with other pricey pieces of jewelry from expensive watches to vintage earrings.
At the start of 2019, reports surfaced that the two seemingly called things off. They scrubbed their Instagram accounts clean of joint pictures and unfollowed each other. E! News reported that Birdman wrote “It’s over” on his Instagram Story ahead of cleaning his page.
Meanwhile, in a New Year’s Day post, Toni told fans, “Starting a new chapter isn’t always an easy choice… but ALWAYS choose to be chosen.” Later that month, the two sparked reconciliation rumors after reuniting on stage at Toni’s tour stop at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia.

Toni Braxton Celebrates First Anniversary With Birdman After Secretly Tying Knot, Filing For Divorce, And Then Dismissing Petition
Fast forward to December 31, 2023 when Toni denied marriage rumors online. She claimed she and Birdman were both single again. Fans speculated that the two married in a private ceremony. She wrote, “#FAKENEWS” over a screenshot that read, “Congratulations! Toni Braxton & Birdman Married In A Private Ceremony In Mexico!” She then wrote on an Instagram feed post, “My dear friend @birdman and I are not married…never been married. We are both single.”
By April 2025, TMZ reported that Toni and Birdman tied the knot on August 8, 2024 in a private ceremony. The publication learned of the news after obtaining divorce documents filed by Toni just two weeks later. The “Unbreak My Heart” singer listed their date of separation as of August 10, 2024. Meaning, two days after marrying, they were ready to call it quits and separated. Two weeks after that, Toni officially filed for divorce, claiming the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
However, TMZ added that Toni then filed to dismiss her divorce petition in January 2025. They added that Birdman also signed off on the documents as well, leaving the couple legally married, husband and wife. On August 8, 2025, Toni took to her Instagram to celebrate her and Birdman’s anniversary. She posted a photo of her flaunting her huge diamond ring while holding a bouquet of flowers. She simply captioned the post, “Happy Anniversary.”
