Rihanna Tells Fans She’s “Trying To Save The World” After Being Asked About New Music

Rihanna addressed her fans yesterday after she was asked about when she was releasing new music via Instagram Live.

According to Page Six, fans were excited to see Rihanna via Instagram Live yesterday and asked her when she is planning to release the anticipated fan titled album R9. However, Rihanna stated that she has bigger issues to focus on and music would have to wait due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“If one of y’all motherf–kers ask me about the album one more time when I’m tryna save the world, unlike y’all president….on sight!’

Earlier this month, The Clara Lionel foundation donated $5 million to coronavirus relief and pledged another $1 million with Jay-Z’s The Shawn Carter Foundation to help provide relief to Los Angeles and New York. Rihanna also teamed up with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to help victims of domestic violence who are dealing with the pandemic.

Back in December, Rihanna teased her fans about #R9 in an Instagram post with the caption: “Update me listening to R9 by myself and refusing to release it.”

Rihanna & Twitter CEO Team Up For $4.2M Donation To Help Domestic Violence Victims Amid Coronavirus Lockdown

Rihanna has been using her quarantine time to find multiple ways to help out during this coronavirus pandemic.

As we reported last month, the beloved superstar’s nonprofit organization, the Clara Lionel Foundation, pledged $5 million to support groups in the United States and around the world. Shortly after, the singer joined forces with Jay-Z’s foundation, The Shawn Carter Foundation, to also donate $2 million for COVID-19 response efforts.

According to Billboard, it looks Riri is at it again! In a joint statement posted Thursday, Rihanna and Twitter/Square CEO Jack Dorsey announced that they have teamed up together to donate $4.2 million to the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles to help domestic violence victims in LA amid the coronavirus lockdown. TMZ noted that the big donation from the 32-year-old singer’s foundation and the Twitter CEO comes amid reports that at least 90 people are being turned away from full domestic violence shelters in L.A. per week, ever since California declared a safer-at-home order last month.

It was said that the money will be able to cover housing, meals, and counseling for 90 victims per week for 10 weeks. It will also cover an additional 90 victims per week for 10 weeks after that.

This move is now also the latest contribution from Dorsey, who earlier this week who gave up 28 percent of his wealth — $1 billion to coronavirus relief efforts.

Rihanna To Receive Special Honor At The 2020 NAACP Image Awards!

On Tuesday, the NAACP announced that Rihanna will be honored with the President’s Award during the 51st Image Awards ceremony this month!

That’s right! the 31-year-old pop star and fashion icon was selected to receive this award for her “groundbreaking career as an artist and musician, but (someone who) has also distinguished herself as a stellar public servant,” The Hollywood reporter quotes. NAACP President Derrick Johnson said Rihanna, who continues to take the industry by storm, “epitomizes the type of character, grace, and devotion to justice” that the organization seeks to highlight.

“Alongside her incredible musical achievements which include nine GRAMMY awards, Rihanna continues to add more credits to her burgeoning resume: executive producer, fashion designer, actress, business entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Rihanna never stops breaking barriers and has built beauty and fashion empires with global beauty brand FEИTY Beauty, lingerie brand SAVAGE x FENTY, and the recently launched luxury fashion brand FEИTY, which saw her become the first woman of color to partner with LVMH and the first woman to start an original brand for the world’s largest luxury group,” NAACP said in a press release on their official website.

Previous recipients include rapper and business mogul Jay-Z, legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, Civil Rights activist Jesse Jackson and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Rihanna will be given the big award during the Feb. 22 ceremony that will be televised for the first time on BET.

Rihanna Reportedly Denies Passing On A Collab With Shaggy For Her Album

Although Rihanna hasn’t shared a bunch of details yet about her highly-anticipated album, there has been a lot of speculation on who will be featured of it. Some reports claimed that the iconic artist Shaggy was going to be featured on R9, but those reports quickly went left after it was said that he actually turned it down!

Some outlets claimed that Shaggy passed on the opportunity to work with Ri after she wanted him to “audition” for her song. However, according to a new statement sent out to a few outlets, that’s totally not true.

Apparently, a rep for the singer says, “We are working on an album, not a talent show, so why would she (Rihanna) require Shaggy or any other artist to audition?,” Hot97 quotes. The representative went on to say,

“After Rihanna had already gathered all the material for the album, Shaggy contacted her asking to be a part of the album. She explained to him that the album was pretty much completed and they were just working on mixing, mastering and deciding which songs to actually use. However, she invited him to submit some materials so she could see if it fits with the flow of the album. That was by no means asking for an audition, it was more going out of her way to get him on the album.”

“We hope Shaggy will come out and let the fans know the real truth because we all know that the media in general and especially entertainment media cannot be trusted. They will twist someone stories in order to get the most viewers. Rihanna loves the people of Jamaica, she loves the fans of Reggae and she loves Reggae music as her career has proven and nothing can or will ever change that.”

It’s still unclear when the new album will drop and who will be on it. So, it looks like we’re just going to have to wait around and see!

The week has been eventful, to say the least, but, Jason has been EVERYWHERE!
