Suspicion Arises As The Wife Of Kim Jong-Un Is Reported Missing For 9 Months

Suspicion arises, along with conspiracy theories, as the wife of North Korea dictator Kim Jong-un is reported missing for 9 months. Ri Sol-ju was last seen during an appearance alongside her husband at Pyongyang’s Samjiyon Theatre during a Lunar New Year performance back in January; since, she’s been MIA.

After Sol-ju missed a military parade on October 10, an event she’s historically attended, theories have begun swirling. Per Daily NK, a source says there are three rumors as to why Sol-ju has mysteriously disappeared from public events. One suggests she’s taking care of Jong-un’s aunt, Kim Kyong-hui, who is ill. It’s said that Sol-ju took a liking to the aunt after her husband was executed.

Another speculation says out of respect for her health amid the coronavirus pandemic, Sol-ju has chosen not to be out in public spaces; as her last appearance was just before the pandemic took over globally. A third rumor says Sol-ju stepped back from the public eye to focus on education her young daughter, who was reportedly born in 2013. It’s also noted that Sol-ju has vanished from significant events in the past. She’s done so in October 2019 and again when she was missing for seven months before reappearing in 2016.
