Sunshine Smith-Williams Fights For Justice & Reform After Police Murder Her Best-Friend
The fight for justice and social reform is not over.
A few weeks ago we reported that a new pilot program is being implemented in the state of New York in early February of 2021 for mental health professionals to respond to emotionally disturbed calls regarding nonviolent mental health issues instead of the NYPD.

lost her friend Shereese Francis in March of 2012. After telling the tragic story of Shereese Francis for the first time to Inside EDITION many were stunned to have never have heard about this incident. Smith-Williams has created a police reform bill that has caught the attention of council members of district 28 who are set to back the community leaders bill.
Smith-Williams explains “The program that NYC is starting in February 2021 is disrespect of her late friend Shereese Francis because it’s almost as if they’ve created this to avoid further investigation of the officers who didn’t follow protocol.”
Smith-Williams said NYPD were sent the appropriate documents seeking the names of all four officers who have alleged to have killed Shereese Francis. The Francis family and Smith-Williams feel the heat of the 113th precinct actions, and the repeal of 50 A is the only reason for creating this pilot program.
Smith-Williams feels the reason they “ARE PUSHING this pilot PROGRAM IS BECAUSE THE FRANCIS FAMILY AND I have initiated a police reform bill that will eliminate the aggressive knees and unqualified officers interacting with EDP calls and are seeking more information on all four officers disciplinary history.”
NYC law enforcement protocol is to have a white shirt officer on the scene when answering EDP calls. Smith-Williams along with family witnesses say police officers killed Shereese Francis by being overly aggressive by compiling their knees on her chest and smothering her to death.
Smith-Williams says “I’m not interested nor excited ABOUT A PROGRAM. THE COPS WHO KILLED MY FRIEND 8 YEARS AGO NEED TO BE ARRESTED, AND MY ACT NEEDS TO BE PASSED. NOT A PROGRAM!! ACTS RESULT INTO ACTIONS
