A California woman now dubbed by social media users as “San Jose Karen” is facing backlash and a police investigation after being filmed harassing a father and his young daughter on a San Jose bike trail, accusing him of trafficking his own child simply because they didn’t share the same skin tone!!

The father, who described himself as brown skinned and his daughter as half white, said the ordeal started when the woman pulled up in her silver Honda Fit and approached his daughter first while she rode ahead of him on her bike.

He told KRON4 the woman circled back multiple times. On her first pass, she asked him, “Are you buying or selling today?” then drove off only to repeat the same question moments later. When the father and daughter turned to head the other way, the woman reappeared and asked whether he was even in the country legally, that’s when he started recording.

What’s on camera is wild. The woman rolls up smiling and tells him, “I’m recording you too, I work with the feds,” before laying out her accusation in full: she was just making sure he wasn’t sex trafficking the girl, who she claimed “doesn’t look like your child.” She pointed off camera and said flatly, “that’s a white little girl and you are a man of color,” insisting that meant he had to be “buying or selling or trafficking” her. She even claimed to have facial recognition on him before driving off  and tried once more to talk directly to the little girl, who the father says just ignored her.

Of course it didn’t stop there. She circled back a second time, this go round pulling out scripture instead of accusations. She recited Psalm 101:8 about “ferreting out the wicked,” then told the father and daughter to “burn in hell” as she drove away. The father managed to catch her license plate and a distinctive sticker on her back window while all this was unfolding , receipts that would matter once he filed a police report and posted the footage to TikTok under the hashtag #karen, where it quickly went viral.

San Jose police have confirmed they’re investigating the incident as hate motivated and connected the woman to a pattern of similar confrontations around the city, including one that reportedly played out at a local high school. For the father, the fight was never about going viral,  it was about making sure a stranger’s snap judgment about his family didn’t just get brushed off as a bad day. This time, with the video, the plate number, and the paper trail he built in real time, it didn’t.
