‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Porsha Williams speaks after filing for divorce after 15 months of marriage from her husband Simon Guobadia, who has also responded to fans following the divorce headlines. Williams tells her Instagram followers, “Thank you for your prayers and support.” The divorce filing also arrives amid Guobadia’s immigration drama involving his criminal past.
As we previously shared, Guobadia, 59, recently made headlines after being denied U.S. citizenship due to his criminal past, which involves felonies for bank fraud, credit card fraud, identity fraud, and more.

On January 11, a 13-page petition was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia: Atlanta Division. The civil action filing was regarding Simon Iyore Guobadia against the Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, UR Mendoza Jaddou, and the Director of the USCIS Atlanta Field Office, Shineka Miller. Per the docs, it was noted that Guobadia’s case was being dismissed.
Days after the immigration headlines surfaced, Porsha Williams, 42, filed for divorce from Simon Guobadia in Atlanta, GA. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, after tying the knot in November 2022, the ‘RHOA‘ star filed to end her marriage. However, sources close to the couple clarified that the decision to divorce is not related to Guobadia’s recent citizenship and immigration issues.
In the early hours of Sunday (February 25), Simon Guobadia took to his Instagram Story and boasted, “Will stop love my wife when divorce is final.” Then in the comments of Guobadia’s recent feed posts, fans were flooding him with questions about his wife filing for divorce and queries about his immigration status.
One fan wrote a lengthy message to Guobadia and said, “It saddens me to hear about the divorce. I also think about the vows you both took for better or for worse. The first test that came against your marriage your wife ran to the divorce court. Respectfully it makes one think that the marriage was a marriage of convenience and not love. Despite all of that what about your children whose lives were blended as a family? No one thinks about how the children are affected in the end. Divorce is easy. Marriage is hard work. I wish you both the best in your lives ahead.”
Replying to the comment, Guobadia said, “Respect [prayer hands emoji].”

Another Instagram user spoke to Guobadia’s recent immigration headlines. The user said, “If immigration finds out your sponsor, be it your wife or other, has a criminal record, it ain’t gonna fly with immigration.” Guobadia simply commented back, “Yep.”
A third Instagram user commented an uplifting message and said, “What water can do to rock? Enjoy my African Brother.” In agreement, Guobadia liked the comment and replied, “EXACTLY [thumbs up emoji].”
Guobadia continued to reply to fans, but instead of commenting back, he simply liked their comments, signifying how much he agreed with their messages. One fan wrote, “[4x crying laughing emojis] Keep them confused and talking.”
Another fan wrote, “I hope things turn out good for you. Be strong and prayerful… There is no situation bigger than God”
