Shocking Trial Details Reveal Shotgun Caused Gaping Hole In Ahmaud Arbery’s Chest

Shocking new details have been revealed during the trial for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, including that of the fatal shot that killed the young jogger in Brunswick, Georgia.

According to the medical examiner’s testimony, the shotgun blast that hit Ahmaud Arbery made a gaping hole in his chest causing mass bleeding. The jogger’s white t-shirt was completely red from his blood.

Dr. Edmund Donoghue said Arbery was hit by two of the three shotgun rounds fired at him. He also added that either one of the shots would have killed him.

Donoghue said that the first shot was at close range and ripped through an artery in Arbery’s right wrist and punched a huge hole in the center of his chest, leading to mass internal bleeding.

“Is there anything law enforcement or EMS could have done to save his life at the scene?” prosecutor Linda Dunikoski asked Donoghue.

“I don’t think so. No,” Donoghue added.

ABC News reports that Donoghue performed Ahmaud’s autopsy on Feb. 24, 2020, the day after he was murdered. The jury was shown horrific images of Arbery with his injuries, which included several large marks to his face from when he fell facedown on the street following the third shot. Photos of his bloodstained t-shirt were also presented.

As we previously reported, father and son Greg and Travis McMichael chased the young Black man in a pickup truck on Feb. 23, 2020, after they spotted Arbery running in their neighborhood just outside the port city of Brunswick. The neighbor, William “Roddie” Bryan, chawed along and took a cellphone video of Travis McMichael fatally shooting Arbery.
