Shocking Footage Shows Teen Mom Throwing Newborn Into Dumpster In New Mexico

Shocking surveillance footage captured the moment a teenage mother tossed her newborn into a dumpster in New Mexico — only for the newborn to be found alive later that day by three people digging through the trash, according to a report.

Alexis Avila, 18, was seen at the dumpster on Friday, grabbing a black trash bag out of the back seat and throwing it into the container, according to criminal documents collected by The Post.

After the baby was found by strangers, the woman rapidly wraps up the newborn and carries the baby to a car as a man apparently contacts authorities, the outlet reported.

The man who located the child expressed to police he, his partner and another friend were dumpster hopping when they believed they heard crying coming from one of the bags, according to the criminal complaint. He found the newborn with the umbilical cord still connected, and identified the infant as a boy. He immediately called the police.

“Upon arrival officers rendered aid to the newborn child and the baby was transported to a local hospital by Hobbs EMS. The child was subsequently transported to a Lubbock Hospital for further pediatric treatment,” police shared in a statement.

“When asking Alexis what she thought would eventually happen to the baby by placing him inside of a plastic bag and dumping him, Alexis remained silent and couldn’t answer. An indication Alexis was well aware the baby would have died as a result,” police wrote in the charging documents.
