After days of uncertainty, Sherri Shepherd is finally speaking out about the fate of her daytime talk show and she’s doing it with honesty, heart, and resolve.
As we previously reported, earlier this month, Debmar-Mercury, the Lionsgate-owned syndicated TV production company behind Sherri, announced it would not renew the show, officially ending its run after four seasons. The news hit fans hard, especially since Shepherd initially stayed quiet following the announcement
That silence wasn’t avoidance — it was recovery. Shepherd had been diagnosed with COVID last week and needed time to heal before addressing what many saw as the end of an era. When she returned to the stage this Monday, emotions were front and center.
“This is a hard morning for all of us here at Sherri,” Shepherd said, getting visibly emotional. “Our show has not been renewed for another season.” The actress and comedian continued explaining,
“From the audience to everybody on social media, to people who stop me in the story and still talk to me despite me not having a wig on. They still talk to me from the emails and the texts, the messages. I feel every bit of the love that you’ve been sending to me and thank you so much,” she continued. “I want to say from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for welcoming me into your homes every single day. I want to thank you for laughing and crying with us. Thank you for supporting my unhealthy obsession with Lenny Kravitz.”
Since its debut, Sherri carved out a lane rooted in warmth, humor, and community, something Shepherd said was intentional from day one.
“The intention of this show was always my prayer for you to leave happier than when you came. It has been my dream to have a talk show and I am so grateful I got the chance to do it for four seasons.”
But despite the cancellation, Shepherd made it clear she’s not ready to let go just yet.
“I want to be clear, I’m not ready to throw in the towel on this show just yet,” she said. “We’re going to be airing episodes all through the fall and we’re going to continue to fight to keep the show alive in some way, shape or form.
Calling herself a “fighter,” Shepherd left viewers with a promise that extends beyond television.
“I don’t know exactly what it’s going to look like, but I promise I will continue to spread joy.”
For now, Sherri may be facing an uncertain future, but one thing is clear: Sherri Shepherd isn’t done — and she’s not going quietly.
